About

Running the World in Toghu

My name is Afowiri Kizito Fondzenyuy, and my journey into running began 13 years ago—on a couch. What started as a small effort to complete a 5km trail run with colleagues has evolved into a global mission that blends endurance, identity, and impact.

Since that first run, I’ve completed dozens of 5Ks and 10Ks, more than six half marathons, and 19 full marathons across six continents—including Europe, America, Asia, Australia, and Antarctica, where I braved extreme conditions in 2025 to complete a historic ice marathon in service of children with special needs in Cameroon.

But this journey has never been just about personal records—it’s about purpose.

Through my runs, I’ve raised over $180,000 for charitable causes across Africa, supporting education, autism awareness, and youth development. This commitment earned me the U.S. Presidential Volunteer Service Award and connected me with communities worldwide, as I ran past landmarks like Buckingham Palace, Tokyo Tower, Acropolis Monuments, Sydney Opera House, The Pentagon, and the Statue of Liberty.

Toghu Marathoner. Presidential award

In March 2024, after five determined attempts across London, Athens, Boston, Sydney, and Tokyo, I earned the Guinness World Record for the Fastest Marathon in Traditional Toghu Attire, finishing the Tokyo Marathon in 4 hours, 23 minutes—while wearing a 27 lb ceremonial outfit made from Cameroon’s iconic royal fabric, Toghu. This same attire, a symbol of cultural pride and endurance, has since been donated to the National Museum of Cameroon as a national heritage piece.

I also proudly earned the Abbott Six-Star Medal by completing all six World Marathon Majors—Berlin, London, Chicago, New York, Boston, and Tokyo—becoming the first Cameroonian male to achieve this feat.

Today, my mission continues through the pillars of Toghutravel, Toghufitness, and Toghugiving—aiming to complete races on all continents, inspire a new generation of runners, and use sport as a tool to build inclusive communities and celebrate African identity.

Running changed my life. It gave me purpose, discipline, and a voice. As a Certified RRCA Running Coach, I now use that experience to help others discover their own strength and story—whether you’re just beginning your journey or chasing a new personal best.

You don’t have to be fast. You just have to start.
Let’s run with heart, train with purpose, and make every step count—together.

Let Me Be Your Coach

Coaching the Toghu Marathoner Style

Run with Heart. Train with Purpose. Evolve Through Every Step.

Like many others, my journey began with uncertainty—starting from scratch, setting big goals, and learning to embrace the runner’s mindset while navigating the challenges of staying consistent and focused. Every marathon I’ve trained for has not only shaped my body but strengthened my character.

Along the way, I’ve learned to conquer procrastination, honor the small wins, and set my own rhythm—a rhythm that now inspires others. I’ve walked in the same shoes you’re about to lace up, and I’m here to help you move with intention, confidence, and clarity.

This coaching journey is more than a fitness plan—it’s about connecting with your heart, building resilience, and discovering just how powerful you can become. Your path is unique, and I’m committed to walking (and running) it with you.

Whether you’re running your first 5K or training for a marathon in cultural attire like Toghu, I’m here to guide you every step of the way.

Let’s train with heart, run with identity, and grow together.
