Mount Kilimanjaro Summit Marathon Completed: 7 Continents, 20 Marathons, One Purpose
The journey to seven continents has reached its summit.
Afowiri Kizito Fondzenyuy, known globally as the Toghu Marathoner, has successfully completed the Mount Kilimanjaro Summit Marathon, marking the final continent in a seven-continent marathon journey and bringing his total to exactly twenty marathons worldwide.
Held on Africa’s highest mountain, the Mount Kilimanjaro Summit Marathon is one of the most physically demanding endurance races in the world. Unlike traditional road marathons, this trail event unfolds across rugged terrain, steep ascents, unpredictable weather conditions, and high-altitude oxygen challenges. It tested not only endurance, but discipline, preparation, and resilience.
With this achievement, Antarctica, Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Australia, and now Africa have all been completed.
Six of the seven continents were run in full traditional Toghu attire — proudly projecting Cameroonian cultural identity on global stages. At Kilimanjaro, Toghu was carried to the summit in symbolic celebration of heritage on the roof of Africa.

But this marathon was never just about distance.
The Mount Kilimanjaro Summit Marathon was dedicated to autism awareness, neurodiversity advocacy, women, and children on the spectrum. Fundraising efforts linked to the race reached their target within weeks, demonstrating the strength of a global community united behind inclusive education.
Through the Amom Foundation, autism awareness activities have already commenced in Bamenda, Cameroon. Teacher training sessions and parent education programmes are underway, designed to strengthen inclusive learning systems and provide structured support for children on the autism spectrum. Expansion to other regions is planned.
From Antarctica’s icy extremes to Kilimanjaro’s towering altitude, this journey has been about more than medals. It has been about storytelling, culture in motion, and using sport as a platform for impact.
Seven continents are now complete.
Twenty marathons are officially recorded.
The mission continues.
The story of this mountain — and what it means for the future — is still unfolding.
