Press Release: Toghu Marathoner Donates Guinness World Records-winning Toghuattire and certificate to Cameroon National Museum
Yaounde (Cameroon) – July 14, 2025: We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, 23 July, 2025 from 4pm (WAT), Afowiri Kizito Fondzenyuy, also known as ‘Nformi Kilé’ (‘General of Runners’), the globally acclaimed as ToghuMarathoner will officially donate his Guinness World Records-winning Toghu attire to the National Museum of Cameroon. The award ceremony, which will be held under the distinguished patronage of the Minister of Arts and Culture, Pierre IsmaëlBidoung MKpwatt, will be preceded by an audience.
State officials, dignitaries, and guests from home and abroad will be in attendance to witness this historic event. Celebrated worldwide for running marathons dressed in Toghu attire – a culturally significant regalia from the North West Region of Cameroon – to raise funds for charity and social causes, the official award ceremony aims to give back Cameroon, the country of origin of the attire.
Building on his social and charitable endeavors, the philanthropist and social entrepreneur made history at the 2024 Toyko Marathon by achieving a Guinness World Record for the fastest marathon run in traditional Toghu attire. He also created a record on 28 March 2025, becoming the first Cameroonian to brave the windy and icy conditions of the South Pole during the Antarctica Marathon. This was his 19th marathon across six continents, crowning him an Abbott Major Marathon Six Star Medalist.

““I run with purpose—because every child, no matter their challenges, deserves the chance to learn, grow, and shine. Especially those with autism, who are so often overlooked,” said the marathon enthusiast.
Each marathon is run on a global the stage and dedicated to a specific social cause, creating a direct local impact. The charity arm of the Toghu Marathoner brand, www.amomfoundation.org, caters for vulnerable people and underserved communities in Cameroon. Through the Foundation’s Charity outreach programmes, over 20 000 persons have directly benefitted local development projects such as construction of schools and bridges, the provision of scholarships and didactic materials, the education of the girls, raising awareness of and support for autism, and conducting feasibility study for a citizen-led assessment.
“We are committed to ensuring that the realization of projects under the Toghu Marathoner brand does not only honor his legacy, but also serves as a platform to inspire civic engagement, cultural pride, and diaspora contribution to nation-building through social capital investments,” explained Chinedu Hardy Nwadike, the Brand Manager, during Monday’s project coordination meeting.
Afowiri Fondzenyuy, the Toghu Marathoner, is turning his passion for running into a force for change, using his resilience and cultural representation to drive initiatives that transform lives. This charity fundraiser is a clarion calls on all individuals and stakeholders who can contribute to making this dream a reality. “Across Cameroon, too many children with autism and special needs are left behind – not because they lack potential, but because they lack access. Through the Amom Foundation, we are building a school for children with special needs – a safe, inclusive space where they can learn, grow, and thrive with dignity. Help us build a future that includes EVERY CHILD! Your support will lay the bricks, open the doors and light up futures.” he stressed.
Every donation is a step closer to inclusion. Join by donating, partnering and sharing!
